Mom and Dad came to pick us up just after lunch. They had Grams’ truck. Grams is out of the country again.
I don’t think they were too happy with all the stuff we had. But it easily fit into the back of the truck. Neither of us had anything like a set of wings to bring home.
We made sure to say goodbye and thanks to all the remaining staff. And we made a special point to tell Miss Porter how grateful we were to be able to stay after camp had closed. She told us how she was looking forward to seeing us again next summer.
The trip home was longer than usual. That’s because we’ve moved to a new place. A house! No more university housing. The house isn’t as big as Grams’ is, but it is bigger than the apartment was. And it has a little yard. Both front and back. Nothing as big as what Rimmie and her family have, but then they live out in the country.
Dad made sure to tell us about five times during the trip home that we could not practice magic out in the yard, or even in the house unless either he or Mom was present. That’s a bummer, but no different than it was at the old place.
All of my stuff is still in a storage pod in Grams’ barn. We are supposed to get it sometime next week. In the meantime, Nora and I are camping out in my new bedroom. We have an air mattress to sleep on and our duffles of camp clothes. The arrangements were nicer at summer camp.
I think it is going to be nicer in the house once everything is moved in and fixed up. Right now, it is kind of a dump.
Nora is looking forward to moving back in with Grams.
